The all-Polish social action “Blood donors” www.krewniacy.pl is logistically supported by Lubawa SA.
The company has provided a pneumatic tent, which makes part of its offer. The initiative is aimed at increasing reserves of blood in Polish medical service as well as at promoting the idea of becoming honorary blood donors. The social program use the newest and most up-to-date ambulance adapted for blood collecting. The ambulance was bought in June, 2009 from voluntary contributions. It has received the name of the pope John Paul II. The 38-m2 pneumatic tent gives the logistic background for the ambulance and the team engaged in action. Inside the tent there is, among others, the kitchen serving special meals for blond donors. The tent can be pitched at any place and ground, so the action can be done almost in every conditions. We monitored the “Blood donors” action in Gdynia on 8th November, 2009. During a two-day campaign in three neighbouring towns: Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia the Regional Centre of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy in Gdańsk, using five posts in the a/m “John Paul II” mobile ambulance, collected over 46 litres of blood from 103 blood donors.
